As we are already into the second quarter of 2021, it seems almost unfathomable that at the same time last year, South Africa was all ‘locked up’, and ‘bunkered down’ at home during the global Covid-19 pandemic – anxious, nervous and uncertain - as we experienced and faced one of the most unpredictable and unprecedented times this century… Look how far have we come since then! As we find our ‘bearings’ in the ‘new normal’ this year, we look back at some valuable realisations, lessons learned, as well as experiences and achievements which B.E.D. had made: While the Covid-19 pandemic regrettably resulted in many casualties, personally and in business - there were also important victories to celebrate, while heroes have emerged – both from B.E.D. and our customers. Most notably, this time of adversity brought us the realisation of how critical our relationships are, and the mutual support which they provide: enabling B.ED . and you, our valued customers, to tighten the ‘bolts’ or bonds which through personal and often long-standing relationships, allow us to cultivate ever stronger ties, innovative partnerships and solutions. The ‘nuts and bolts’ of good business While the Covid-19 pandemic and a recessionary environment locally and globally have widely seen the adaptation of business strategies and adjustment of strategic directions, the B.E.D. Group has focused on our ‘back to basics’, simple yet effective approach: what we refer to as the ‘nuts and bolts’ of good business. By taking responsibility 100% of the time for our own success, and having zero tolerance for excuses, we aim to provide our customers with the very best service and great quality in every single interaction. This approach is underpinned by the B.E.D. ethos that ‘ it is our business to know your business ’ to provide our customers with ‘ the perfect fit fast ’. Through this approach we also focus on what is important to our valued customers: finding the right product at the right price and at the right time. As reflected in the following newsletter articles – including about our long- serving employees, customer wins, new innovations through proactive analytical approaches, investment in our customers’ businesses through training, a sustainable approach to training and development of our youth, and even to our social activities, B.E.D.’s success derives from our family – the Bolt team. B.E.D.’s ‘value chain’ of innovation, collaboration, quality and exceptional service is ‘fastened’ together by the Group’s passionate and dedicated team who always do their best when serving you, our valued customers. Last - but never least - we know that it is important never to take anyone or anything for granted! In working together to improve and excel in service, and in ‘going the extra mile’ to ensure stock availability and quality customer interactions, we are extremely grateful for our success and give thanks in all circumstances.
